The construction fences around One Loudoun's north-side expansion came down the first weekend of April, when Arhaus opened its doors. For most of the six months since, the new block of Exchange Street has worked best before dark. You could buy a sofa, pick up leggings, get a pastry and finish with a scoop of ice cream. Dinner was the missing piece.
That changed the week of September 24, when Loudoun County's first Bartaco started its soft opening in a freestanding building across the street from the earlier arrivals. With a dinner spot in place, the block now covers a full day. The plaza in front of Bartaco is the part to watch next.
How the block filled in, morning first
The opening order explains why the new section felt half-finished for so long. The first tenants were retail, then daytime food. Dinner came last.
| Business | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Arhaus | Furniture | Open by April 4, 2026, the first business in the expansion |
| Alo | Activewear | Open by May 1, 2026 |
| Van Leeuwen Ice Cream | Ice cream | Opened Tuesday, June 2, 2026 |
| Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Bakery and cafe | Opened Wednesday, June 10, 2026 |
| Bartaco | Restaurant | Soft opening the week of September 24, 2026 |
Bartaco has been a long time coming. The Burn first reported the restaurant's plans for One Loudoun in September 2024. In early April 2026, the building was up but still filled with gravel inside, waiting on utilities and a poured floor, while Tatte and Van Leeuwen were close to opening. As late as July 23, there was no firm opening date, only an expectation that it would open before the end of the year. It opened with roughly three months to spare.
What the soft opening means for a weeknight
A soft opening comes with limits. During its first week, Bartaco served dinner only, and staff told The Burn they expected to add lunch as soon as the following week. That report is now more than a week old, so it makes sense to check current hours before planning a midday visit.
For an evening, the block now runs in sequence. You can browse Arhaus or Alo, have dinner at Bartaco, then walk to Van Leeuwen for dessert, all on one block. In the spring, the same plan meant leaving the new section to find dinner somewhere else.
The storefronts that are still dark
The block isn't finished. Several retail tenants announced for the expansion are still on the way, and none had a published opening date in the most recent reporting.
- Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Madewell are still listed as coming to the under-construction part of the new phase. Madewell's plans were first reported on April 1, 2026.
- Anthropologie is under construction in a long-vacant space next to the expansion area, with no opening date announced.
- A hotel, still unnamed, was included in the plans for this section as of April.
Changes outside the new block point the same way. The Washington Business Journal reported in late September that L.L. Bean will move into the former Container Store space at One Loudoun. Monkee's of Loudoun plans to open on Thursday, October 15, with an opening-weekend celebration October 15 through 18.
Taken together, the fall openings lean heavily toward home goods and apparel. Bartaco is the only new restaurant opening in the block this season, which makes it the anchor for anyone staying past dinner.
The fall calendar, in date order
One Loudoun's event schedule runs through the first weekend of November. Some events take place on Exchange Street and some on Easthampton Plaza, so check the listed address before you head out.
- Moonlight Market, Fridays, October 9, 16, 23 and 30, 5 to 9 p.m. The Maker's Valley Friday market wraps up its season with these four remaining dates. Its event listing gives an Exchange Street address.
- Sunrise Sweat with Lululemon, Sunday, October 11, 9 to 10:30 a.m. The morning includes three 30-minute outdoor yoga classes at One Loudoun Park.
- 8th Annual Halloween Bark Bash, Saturday, October 24, noon to 3 p.m. One Loudoun calls this its signature pet event, with trick-or-treating, adoptable dogs, rescue groups, pet businesses, music and costumes. It's listed at Easthampton Plaza.
- Asia In a Bite, Saturday, October 31 through Sunday, November 1. This free outdoor food festival brings 40 food vendors, 10-plus merchandise vendors and a live DJ. Admission requires a free RSVP.
The Asia In a Bite dates need one note. A summer roundup in the Loudoun Times-Mirror listed it for October 17 and 18. The organizer's 2026 schedule, its Tixr RSVP page and One Loudoun's own event details all now list October 31 to November 1, so plan around Halloween weekend.
With Bark Bash on the 24th and Asia In a Bite on the 31st, the last two Saturdays of October are the busiest stretch of the fall calendar. Bartaco and Tatte are both open for those weekends.
The plaza in front of Bartaco
When the fences came down in April, The Burn described a large, grassy, park-like plaza in front of Bartaco that "will be turned into an ice rink for skating in the winter." Kite Realty's current site plan for the property labels an ice rink in the new phase. The idea has been around for years. A 2023 design revision had placed a rink in an enlarged median on Exchange Street.
None of these reports gives a skating schedule, an operator or pricing. As of early October, One Loudoun's events page lists nothing past the first weekend of November. Last year's holiday tree lighting was Saturday, December 6, 2025, and that listing mentioned ice carving, not skating. Until One Loudoun posts a schedule, treat the rink as a plan.
If the rink opens this winter, the new block will have a cold-weather reason to visit. It would sit in front of the block's one dinner restaurant, close to a bakery and an ice cream shop. If it doesn't, the plaza stays a lawn, and the block works on a winter evening the same way it did this fall.
For now, the block is open from Tatte in the morning through Bartaco at night, and the Moonlight Market runs every Friday through October 30.
