Then a Saturday in August rolls around, the lot fills for free, and the same patch of ground at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park turns into the loudest 5,000-seat room in Leesburg.
That contrast has always been part of Segra Field's rhythm since it opened in 2019. What changed this year is how often that room gets used, and by whom.
The Crest Now Covers Three Teams
For most of its history, Segra Field belonged to one club. Loudoun United FC started in 2018 as the reserve side for D.C. United, playing under that arrangement until it ended in 2023. Since then it's operated as its own club in the USL Championship, still calling Bolen Park home, still the only pro tenant most residents could name.
That single-team story is over for 2026. The club announced on December 2, 2025 that it would host a pre-professional team in USL2, in the Chesapeake Division of the Eastern Conference, known as Loudoun United FC 2, with VA Revolution coach Matthew Mountford tapped to lead the new squad. In the same stretch of announcements, the organization confirmed a women's team under the same brand, set to play in the Mid Atlantic Division of the USL W League starting in 2026.
So the crest that used to mean one roster now covers three:
- Loudoun United FC — the USL Championship side, in its eighth season at Segra Field
- Loudoun United FC 2 — a new USL League Two team, debuting in 2026 under coach Matthew Mountford
- Loudoun United (Women's) — a first-ever USL W League team, also debuting this year
That's a meaningful shift for anyone who treats the stadium as background noise. A building that used to go dark for long stretches between matches now has three separate schedules layered on top of each other, which means more nights with lights on, more cars in that free lot, and more reasons for a Tuesday to look like a Saturday.
A Playoff Push Worth Watching Through October
The men's team gave locals a reason to pay closer attention last year. In the 2025 USL Championship standings, Loudoun United FC finished in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 42 points, going 12-12-6 and scoring 45 goals, behind Young Player of the Year Abdellatif Aboukoura, and that surge delivered the club's first playoff appearance, ending in a 1-0 loss on the road at North Carolina FC.
That first taste of the postseason changed the calculus for 2026. Loudoun enters the year chasing another playoff run, with the top eight teams per conference headed to a single-elimination, fixed bracket, and early roster decisions keep key pieces in place, including Abdellatif Aboukoura, Arquímides Ordóñez, and Pedro Santos. The club also brought in new leadership at midseason. The club parted ways with coach Ryan Martin, so spring results will matter under the new setup. Anthony Limbrick now runs the sideline for the club.
Four home dates remain on the fall slate at Segra Field, and each one now doubles as a playoff-positioning game rather than a late-season formality:

That's a smaller window than it sounds. Four games between now and late October, each one likely carrying playoff weight given where the club sits after last year's run, is a tighter stretch than the club's full home slate suggests. Loudoun United Football Club will play 17 home and 17 away matches during the 2026 United Soccer League Championship season, and most of those 17 home dates are already behind the club by mid-August.
What Doesn't Change Between Games
Whatever else shifts with three teams sharing one address, the gameday mechanics at Segra Field have stayed consistent, and they're worth knowing before the next Saturday rolls around. Parking at Segra Field is free. Gates open 60 minutes prior to the scheduled kickoff, so a 7:00 p.m. match means doors at 6:00. Once inside, there is a rotating selection of local food trucks to choose from at every match, and fans can expect a diverse menu of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic products, soda, local brews, wine and more. Families get a dedicated space too, since there is a fun zone for all ages located right inside the main gate with inflatables, cornhole boards, ladder ball, and other lawn games.
None of that is new information for season-ticket holders, but it's the kind of detail that makes the difference between showing up at 6:55 for a 7:00 kickoff and standing in a line that's already 50 people deep.
The Short Drive That Turns A Match Into A Whole Evening
Bolen Park sits on the southeast edge of town, a short drive from the brewery and restaurant cluster that's built up around historic downtown Leesburg and the W&OD Trail. That cluster is dense enough to matter. Downtown Leesburg holds the largest concentration of breweries in the county within a single mile, anchored by spots like Black Hoof, which sits across the street from the Loudoun County Courthouse and pours a lineup of German lagers and English ales, and Crooked Run, a nano-brewery tucked into Market Station known for cocktail-inspired sours and IPAs before it expanded to a second location in Sterling. A few blocks over, Black Walnut Brewery runs its taproom out of a converted farmhouse, with picnic tables scattered across a backyard that stays busy on weekend evenings.
Food options sit close enough to walk between. The downtown area is stocked full with delicious restaurant options, including Fireworks Pizza, King Street Oyster Bar and Delirium Cafe, all a few minutes from each other on foot once you've parked downtown.
None of that requires a game ticket. But pairing a 6:00 or 7:00 kickoff with an early dinner downtown, or a postgame pint after a 5:00 match wraps up around 7, turns one stadium trip into a full evening without much extra planning.
The Calendar Is Filling In
A stadium that hosts three teams instead of one doesn't just mean more games. It means more nights where Leesburg has somewhere specific to be that has nothing to do with a winery drive or a trip into D.C.
